Ten individuals convicted of online harassment directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has ruled against ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced allegations of spreading untruths regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to posting malicious remarks about the couple's age disparity of 24 years.

The court issued suspended jail terms of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The full ruling has yet to be released.

A persistent false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.

This Monday's court decision in France is concurrent with the Macrons pursuing a libel case in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's identity.

Their legal filing contends that Owens ignored all credible evidence that refuted her assertions opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has often echoed these allegations on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.

Brigitte Macron initially encountered her now-husband when she taught at his secondary school.

The couple entered into matrimony in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
